FitzSoft Consulting Journey
The FitzSoft Consulting story spans a continent or two, an ocean expanse, and a few island nations. It was a journey of many years, numerous cities and states; and the journey continues. A geographical representation of that journey using the Google Maps seemed to be an appropriate project as a first stab at using the GMaps API.
The animation menu above the map can be used to view my journey in action and, as a whimsical aside, shows the convolutions it took for my wife and I to meet as we each criss-crossed the world on our separate voyages.
Bestselling Books by Author Birth Place
Like many people I am an avid reader and choose the books I read based on a variety of criteria. Sometimes it's because I know the author, have heard about the book from some email, newspaper, or web based review, and sometimes it's from a friend's recommendation.
But occasionally it's about the place; where the author was born or where the book is set. So I thought why not use the API to build an application that would facilitate the purchasing and researching of books that met such geographical criteria.
The controls to the left of the map can be used limit the number of books displayed and focus the map on a narrow geographical area. Informational windows for each book lead to reviews and the ability to quickly purchase the book.
